Privacy Policy
Effective date: 11 August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Clipwell ("Clipwell", "we", "us"), an OrangeLab product operated by Jianren Wen (sole proprietor), collects, uses, and retains information when you use our service. Clipwell converts social-media videos and posts you submit into structured notes written to your own Notion workspace.
1. What we collect
- Account information — the email address you register with.
- Links you submit — the video or post URLs you ask us to process.
- Processing data — the source media we fetch, transcripts, OCR text, visual analysis, and the notes we generate. Part of this stays on our servers after the job has finished; section 2 lists exactly what stays, for how long, and how it is deleted.
- Usage and billing records — counts of clips processed and payment records (we never store your card number).
2. How long we keep data (retention)
This section was corrected on 11 August 2026. The previous version understated what the service actually keeps on our own servers: it said the transcript and analysis data were deleted after 7 days, and that we kept no server-side copy of your finished note. Neither was true. The table below describes what the service does today.

| Account deletion | Deleting your account is permanent and cannot be undone — once deleted, your account cannot be recovered. Your identity and entitlement records are removed when you delete. A reconciliation job runs when the service starts and then every 24 hours; for an account that has been deleted it removes that account's clip-list rows, the quality-checking source material for those clips, the note records and the key-frame copies, so product-side deletion completes within 24 hours of the account being deleted (well inside the GDPR / CCPA limits). The two exceptions are stated in the rows above: operational log lines are kept but anonymised, and the Notion OAuth token is not yet removed automatically. Notes already written into your own Notion are not touched — those are yours to delete. Any remaining credits or quota are forfeited and are not refunded, and your Paddle subscription is not cancelled automatically — you must cancel it yourself in Paddle's subscription-management settings, or billing will continue. 3. AI training
Your content is never used to train AI models. We process your content solely to generate the notes you request.
4. Third-party processors
- AI model providers process your content solely to generate your notes. The specific provider list may change over time. Categories: transcription (self-hosted), and vision & language models (cloud APIs).
- Payments are handled by Paddle, which acts as our Merchant of Record. We do not receive or store your card number.
- Hosting is provided by Cloudflare.
5. Data location
The files listed in section 2 (quality-checking source material, note records, key-frame copies, and your clip list) are held on the servers we operate to run the processing service.
Two of the processing steps send your content to third-party model APIs that are operated in mainland China: the step that describes what is on screen, and the step that turns the transcript into a structured note. Transcription runs on machines we operate and is not sent to any third party. Which provider handles each step can change over time, but if a step moves to or from mainland China we will update this section. An earlier version of this policy said all of our processing was on non-mainland-China infrastructure; that was not accurate for these two steps.
6. Legal bases
Where applicable (e.g. under the GDPR), we process your data to perform our contract with you (providing the service), to comply with legal obligations (billing records), and on the basis of our legitimate interests (preventing abuse and securing the service).
7. Your rights
You may request access to, an export of, or deletion of your personal data at any time. To exercise these rights, contact our privacy team at [email protected]. You can delete your account from within the product. There is no disconnect button inside Clipwell yet; to disconnect Notion, revoke Clipwell's access from Notion's own settings, and email us if you also want the token we stored deleted.
8. Children
Clipwell is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above and, where appropriate, by notifying you.
